Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly Prince Andrew and the younger brother of King Charles III, has been arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office over his ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Thames Valley Police confirmed that a man in his sixties from Norfolk was detained and properties in Berkshire and Norfolk were searched, though British practice meant he was not formally named.
Now 66, Andrew was taken into custody after newly released U.S. court documents shed fresh light on his contact with Epstein during his tenure as the United Kingdom’s special envoy for international trade. Investigators are examining whether he shared confidential trade or government reports with Epstein around 2010, when he was promoting British commercial interests abroad. Once a senior working royal, Andrew lost his titles and public role amid earlier scandals and has repeatedly denied any criminal wrongdoing linked to Epstein. He has reportedly been released under investigation, as police stress that their inquiry is ongoing and warn of significant public interest in the case.
