Deadly Mass Shooting Kills 10 at Canadian High School

A devastating mass shooting at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School in British Columbia claimed 10 lives on Tuesday, marking Canada's deadliest school attack since the 1989 École Polytechnique massacre.

Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) responded to reports of an active shooter at 1:20 p.m. local time. Officers discovered six victims dead inside the school, with a seventh dying en route to the hospital. Two additional victims were found dead at a nearby residence in what police believe is a connected shooting.

The suspect, found deceased inside the school from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, was initially described as a female in a dress with brown hair. Two critically injured victims were airlifted to hospitals, while approximately 25 others received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries at a local medical center.

Police lifted the emergency alert at 5:45 p.m., confirming no additional suspects remain at large. British Columbia Premier David Eby called the attack an "unimaginable tragedy," while investigations continue into the motive and circumstances.

All students and staff were safely evacuated, with authorities coordinating family reunification efforts.
