OpenAI has appointed Indian-origin executive Arvind KC as its Chief People Officer, bringing a seasoned technology and people operations leader to one of the world's most consequential AI companies as it enters a phase of rapid expansion.
KC joins OpenAI from Roblox and brings senior leadership experience at Google, Palantir Technologies and Meta, combining rare engineering depth with large-scale organizational expertise. He will report directly to Chief Strategy Officer Jason Kwon.
The appointment fills a critical vacancy left by former Chief People Officer Julia Villagra, who exited in August 2025. KC's mandate covers hiring, onboarding, employee development and internal systems designed to help technical teams operate at speed without compromising culture.
His arrival comes as OpenAI pursues a funding round expected to exceed $100 billion and prepares for a potential public listing. KC holds an MBA from Santa Clara University and a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai.
"This is a moment where every organization is being asked to rethink how work happens," KC said in a statement. "I'm excited to join OpenAI as we work through those questions ourselves."
