WASHINGTON — A groundbreaking civic data initiative aimed at the Indian American community was launched on February 23, just ahead of this fall's U.S. midterm elections.
Community leader Anang Mittal unveiled the Indian American Voter Atlas — available at voteratlas.io — describing it as "the first nonpartisan, open civic data platform built specifically for and about the Indian American community." The platform seeks to map and better understand the community's growing political footprint across the United States.
The timing is highly significant. Indian Americans, numbering over 4 million by U.S. Census estimates, are one of the fastest-growing immigrant-origin communities in the country. With high median incomes, strong educational attainment, and geographic concentration in key electoral battleground states, both major political parties have increasingly intensified outreach to this influential bloc.
By branding the platform explicitly as "open" and "nonpartisan," Mittal signaled a deliberate effort to position it as a public-facing community resource free from party alignment, a notable move at a time when data-driven political tools have become central to modern campaign strategy.
