About The Movie:
Visfot, a 2024 Indian Hindi-language crime thriller directed by Kookie Gulati, aims to capture the gritty reality of Mumbai through an explosive tale of crime, power, and morality. Produced under the banner of White Feather Films by Sanjay Gupta and Anuradha Gupta, the film packs intense moments but leaves audiences with mixed feelings.
Critics Review: The story builds a palpable tension from the start, effectively setting up a world of high stakes and raw emotions. The film's first half is gripping, successfully pulling viewers into the grimy underbelly of the city. However, as Visfot moves towards its conclusion, the narrative loses some steam. Formulaic twists in the second half, along with an ill-placed song that disrupts the tempo, diminish what could have been a heart-pounding finale.
The performances are one of the film's strongest elements. Fardeen Khan, returning to the screen, delivers a solid performance, though he feels a bit uneven in parts. His character’s restrained heroism hints at a potential for bigger roles in the future. Riteish Deshmukh steps out of his comedic comfort zone, taking on a darker role with surprising ease. His portrayal is a standout, proving his versatility as an actor. Krystle Dsouza brings charm and screen presence, while Priya Bapat impresses with a powerful, memorable performance. Sheeba Chadha and Seema Biswas excel in their roles, particularly Biswas, who delivers a chilling portrayal. Other supporting actors, such as Nachiket Purnapatre, provide a few pleasant surprises, although some characters, like Prithviraj Sarnaik and Arhaan Khan, could have been more fleshed out.
While the performances shine, the film falters in its storytelling. Loose ends in the first half, coupled with an uneven pace, hold Visfot back from being a truly captivating thriller. Despite some standout moments and tense sequences, the film struggles to maintain momentum, ultimately making it an average entertainer.
